About the Position: Serves as the Operations Manager for in the USASOC G3 and serves as the senior operations officer and subject matter expert for intra-USASOC and subordinate commands coordination and planning in support of directed and contingency operations.

Duties

Orchestrates and directs efforts to operationalize the intelligence targeting process through consideration of all available USASOC resources. Ensures senior decision makers have a high degree of informational fidelity and understanding of target, situation and available assets to affect execution planning. Uses a comprehensive knowledge to coordinate with the interagency and regional unified commands in support of training and exercises that may be used in operational missions. Provides advice and recommendations to senior leaders, distinguished visitors, and other dignitaries on sensitive national plans, policies, and doctrine and how they relate to Interagency National Mission force-related operations. Responsible for an analytical and operational training task force consisting of military, civilian, and contractor personnel charged with threat analysis and preparation of intelligence estimates, annexes, and target packages. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjust short term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. Attends conferences and meetings held by the various agencies in furtherance of the intelligence and information needs of the command as dictated by contingency plans. Provides constant interaction with the USSOCOM and the HQDA at the GS-15 / 06 level for impending issues which affect the ARSOF.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires extensive CONUS travel up to 25% of the time and on short notice. It will require frequent extended duty with long hours under high pressure with generally high-risk job responsibilities.
  • Incumbent must reside within local commuting distance of Fort Liberty (50 miles).
  • Incumbent is required to maintain an issued cell phone.
  • Incumbent is subject short notice recall.
  • Incumbent may be required to apply for Staff-Like-Access (SLA) in order to coordinate with Other Government Agencies.

Specialized experience: One-year of specialized experience which includes experience: 1) Assisting with the direction of programs for a Special Operations military command that directly affect complex, multi-mission military operations such as: war planning, strategic planning, force structure, equipment modernization, individual/unit training and joint exercises. 2) Advising senior leaders on sensitive national plans, policies, and doctrine and how they relate to Interagency National Mission force-related operations. 3) Evaluating OPLANS and CONPLANS for suitability, feasibility, acceptability, technical accuracy and consistency with current interagency plans and guidelines. 4) Developing strategies to accomplish sensitive Special Operations intelligence missions. 5) Optimizing the readiness and training of military units through the development, coordination and implementation of plans related to special mission units and the interagency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
