Duties
Monitor, evaluate, and assist in implementation of new processes to analyze DFAS accounting and financial management programs.
Participates in formal and informal management planning and decision-making activities regarding Defense Travel System (DTS) and Government Purchase Card (GPC) and changes in policies and procedures involving important resource management issues.
Supports major programs/projects (DTS and GPC) on a broad scale as well as guide, counsel and direct functional and technical aspects of these programs/projects at a detailed level when required.
Serves as the Lead Defense Travel Administrator for ESS; provides DTS support and advisory assistance; primary travel policy advisor and DTS technical authority for ESS users and approvers.
Monitors and analyzes DTS reports, conducting reviews for accuracy to prevent audit findings.
Validates accuracy and timeliness of DTS requirements.
Manages ESS DTS iControl annual reviews.
Manages ESS training and supply purchases. Ensures all purchasing requirements are met and funds are available as the sole ESS GPC holder.

- Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience Defined As: Providing management support services in the areas of Defense Travel Systems (DTS), travel policy, Government Purchase Card (GPC), and purchasing; analyzing and evaluating finance and accounting operations (i.e., processes, internal controls, procedures, etc).
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
