Instructs individuals and groups in training programs for aerobic and muscular fitness, body composition, and flexibility training. Prepares and manages administrative matters to include briefings, after action reports, and budget requirement. Develops work schedules and supervises staff to include front desk staff and group fitness instructors.
Duties
Implements and conducts a detailed and comprehensive incentive program including motivational and instructional events for use in recruiting, retaining and encouraging patrons. Instructs and counsels individuals and groups in training programs for aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition, and flexibility training. Conducts fitness testing which include measuring individual aerobic capacity, their body fat percentages, recommended height/weight ratios, strength, flexibility, muscular endurance and blood pressure. Instructs patrons in the proper and safe use of all equipment for training. Ensures all safety measures are observed. Responsible for the care of equipment and facilities. Conducts inventories and maintains control of acquired equipment and property.
Monitors registration of class participants, collection of fees, maintains attendance and appropriate accounting records. Prepares and manages administrative matters to include briefings, special reports, after action reports, budget requirement/justifications for both APF & NAF budgets as related to fitness programs. Develops work schedules and supervises fitness staff to include front desk staff and group fitness instructors. Incumbent coordinates and mentors all fitness personnel and instructors.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interview skills are required to assess patrons, supervise staff, and develop, promote and market programs. The ability to speak in public forums to both small and large groups of people, as well as one on one interaction.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Must have a minimum of three year's experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of the assigned program. A degree in recreation, fitness, or related field may be substituted for two years of experience.
- Must possess or obtain within six months an NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification..
Qualifications

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

CPR and First Aid certification is required.
Must possess or obtain within six months an NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
