You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (ELECTRONICS MECHANIC) in the ELECTRICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURECES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will package, assemble, accomplish Readiness Reviews, release and accomplish records review certification results of the Technical Work Documentation (TWDs). You will be the central point of contact for the Zone Managers, Foremen, Shops, and Technical Codes for updates of work progress. You will identify scheduling conflicts to applicable Project Teams and provide solutions. You will be familiar with the Material Management automated systems and be able to retrieve various reports on material status.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Performing at a full-level performance in the Electronics Mechanic trade and familiar with the duties of other trades within the shop. Procuring material/equipment, processing related software, and routing TWDs to requested locations. Coordinating the packaging, assembling of support documentation and ensuring material meet schedules, task breakdowns, and delivery deadlines. Identifying task package inefficiencies and recommending ways to package work that results in cost and schedule gains for the overall project. Using oral and written skills to communicate with various levels of personnel.
