This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent leads Modeling and Simulation (M&S) planning efforts during joint training exercises and act as a subject matter expert for Joint and service Modeling and Simulation, to include Joint Live, Virtual and Constructive (JLVC) training.
Duties
As a MODELING AND SIMULATION EVENT PLANNER at the GS-0301-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Designing and implementing M&S architectures to support JS J7 Joint, and Coalition training exercises.
Ensuring that the M&S architectures support the training objectives and have the flexibility to be reconfigured quickly to support emergent requirements.
Planning, integration, operation and maintenance of M&S systems and federations in support of combatant command and Service Joint training events.
During exercises, assisting the technical director for the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) and leading the military, contractor and governmental matrixed team that establishes and provides reliable M&S systems to the JS J7 joint, Service and coalition exercise training audiences both in garrison and to deployed austere environments.
Analyzing and refining M&S and C4 support for JNTC events, and JS J7 operations, crises and contingencies.
Maintaining liaison with the M&S systems architects of the Services, agencies and Combatant Commands on issues concerning new technology/enhancements relative to exercise/contingency operations support.
Representing JS J7 in conferences and meetings with the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Department of Defense, Services and others involved in joint exercises and contingency support on matters concerning JS J7 involvement.
Participating on boards, working groups, and test and evaluation events in support of the JS J7 mission and providing administrative assistance as required to the Chief, Technical Teams Branch.

- If selected at the GS-12 level, the incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the GS-13evel, without further competition once time-in-grade, training, satisfactory performance, and other requirements of the higher grade level are met.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
Designing and implementing Modeling and Simulation (M&S) architectures to support training exercises.
Providing recommendations to the military, contractor and governmental matrixed team that establishes and provides reliable M&S systems.
Analyzing existing complex military M&S systems and operations for improved effectiveness, responsiveness and efficiencies. (Experience must be reflected in resume)
OR
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Directing Modeling and Simulation (M&S) architectures to support training exercises.
Presenting briefings to provide recommendations to the military, contractors and governmental matrixed team that establishes and provides reliable M&S systems.
Managing complex military M&S systems and operations for improved effectiveness, responsiveness and efficiencies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
