The incumbent works under the Diagnostic Imaging Service chief, and close coordination with the Program Analyst, Radiology Administrative Officer, Chief Technologists, Information Resources Management Service (lRMS) and Biomedical Engineering Section of the Engineering Service. Position may be asked to coordinate work with other services and users of digital diagnostic images throughout the Healthcare System.
Duties
- Reporting of Procedural and Data analysis, provides data analysis, program analysis, data validation, and management support functions to assist leadership in the evaluation of the effectiveness of line program operations in meeting goals and objectives established within the service.
- Ensures the functionality of the Image Display, Speech Recognition, Clinical Application Processing, Reporting/Tracking, Data Management and Display Quality Assessment systems by monitoring, hardware support, software support, and application configuration for all PACS imaging associated servers/workstations and peripherals within the service.
- Serves as an imaging informatics technical consultant for Diagnostic Imaging.
- Incumbent plans, implements, and manages PACS-supported logical networks and protocols, to ensure the compatibility, integrity, and availability of related data.
- Installs, manages, and analyzes local imaging network components and configurations within the imaging environment, utilizing administrator software and utilities. Ensures system configurations are optimized and fully functional.
- The incumbent assists in troubleshooting and repairs of workstations, servers, Ethernet and direct management connections and acts as network specialist for the service.
- Manages outside studies and reports, space planning, and equipment evaluation and procurement.
Work Schedule: : Monday-Friday; Tour of Duty 11a-730p. This position is subject to call backs, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/23/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1.) Serving as an image informatics technical consultant for Diagnostic Imaging. 2.) Planning, implementing, and managing Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS)-supported logical networks and protocols, to ensure the compatibility, integrity, and availability of related data. 3.) Planning, performing, and assessing the implementation of software and system hardware upgrades associated with imaging data, imaging applications and diagnostic digital studies. 4.) Providing service chiefs and administrators' updated information, alternatives, options, and recommendations that assist in: planning/revising policies, coordinating programs and workflow, and allocation of resources, equipment, space, and budgetary needs. 5.) Evaluating performance data associated with technologists/radiologists technical errors, cost/benefit analysis and assessment of pending procurements, and best practice recommendations. OR,

Physical Requirements: This work involves a normal amount of standing, walking, crouching and occasional carrying 10-20 pounds for a short distance and pushing an equipment cart. This position coordinates projects at the Gainesville VA, Lake City VA, Jacksonville OPC, Tallahassee OPC and The Villages OPC. The job requires visits to multiple services and units. The work requires keen and sustained attention span and stress management over long hours. There is frequent use of a computer, keyboard and display terminal. The work is performed primarily in technical and patient care settings, but which occasionally may require exposure to toxic and carcinogenic substances, infections materials, and radiation. For these reasons, protective equipment and devices are sometimes required.
