This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA OC/JOINT STAFF SUPPORT CENTER.
Duties
Serve as a senior specialist and systems administrator.
Develop and implement systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required to support organizational
objectives.
Develop standards and criteria for assessing server performance, availability, capacity or configuration problems. Develops procedures for responding to new threats to systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability.
Reallocate resources as they become available, optimizes systems performance and recommends additional components to improve overall performance.
Manage the installation of software and hardware, systems fixes, updates and enhancements. Installs, configures and tests software on workstations.
Develop and present training on the operation and maintenance of systems to the IT staff.
Maintain server integrity and availability.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Recall/On Call 24/7 Position.
- This is a Top Secret/SCI position. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- This is a drug testing position, subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience with Windows operating systems and VMware software installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and security fundamentals; systems optimization, systems integration, performance tuning, evaluation methods and procedures, and project management principles to maintain, update, plan, and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-12 grade level.
