About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required for daily tasks. Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher-levels of supervision. Operate motor vehicles close to buildings and underground utility lines. Plan work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Ensure the safe operation of Engineering Equipment Operators, Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanics and Laborers.

• This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random drug testing thereafter, to include drug testing based on reasonable suspicion and drug testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a United States Government driver's license.
• A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
• This position requires heavy lifting up to 45lbs.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a WS 09 Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform common Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor tasks including: supervising the repair and maintenance of heavy mobile equipment used for road maintenance. I am skilled in operating large trucks such as dump trucks, snowplows, water trucks and chemical trucks. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Working Conditions: Work is performed in all weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to injury due to the possibility of equipment tipping or overturning. Incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt and exhaust fumes.
