You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Engineering and Cyber Welfare Group (V5) of NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND.

Duties

You will demonstrate outstanding technical leadership in the cutting edge technological area of cybersecurity. You will be responsible for a wide-range of CYBERSAFE-related activities including policy and process development and execution of the CYBERSAFE program for the development, review, and release of CYBERSAFE products for DON aviation systems. You will lead NAVAIR's development, implementation, and integration of CYBERSAFE policy to ensure the expeditious review and certification of systems. You will ensure policy, processes, and tools are in place to enable data review in support of CYBERSAFE certification for all DON aviation systems.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12/13 grade level or pay band (NH-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Understanding the disciplines required to develop CYBERSAFE policies and execute the CYBERSAFE certification process to manned and/or unmanned aviation systems; (2) Evaluating and interpreting the relationships among acquisition, modification, developmental and operational tests, engineering reviews, and flight clearance processes; (3) Assessing the potential consequential effects of cyber intrusion to Department of the Navy aviation systems; and (4) Representing the agency to external CYBERSAFE policies and process development working groups and forums across Department of the Navy and Department of Defense.. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Evaluation of Education:

Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
