About the Position: This position is located within the Fort Liberty community district. Fort Liberty is a military installation of the United States Army in North Carolina, and is one of the largest military installations in the world by population, with around 54,000 military personnel.
Duties
Serve as the Secretary to the District Superintendent, providing administrative support to the District Superintendent and the District staff.
Performs or coordinates the performance of administrative and clerical duties in support of the DSO.
Keeps Superintendent's and District staff calendar and schedules appointments.
Attends meetings and prepares minutes.
Receives calls, greets visitors, and directs inquiries to the appropriate member of the school staff.
Review correspondence and reports for technical accuracy. (Format, grammar, accuracy, conformance to office policy, completeness, coherence and consistency. etc.)
Prepares Requests for Personnel Action (RPA) and submits to the Human Resources Office.
Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties such as making travel arrangements, maintaining personnel timecards, and/or serving as the Super Timekeeper.
Organize/Compile information for reports.
Provide information and guidance on school procedures, reports, and requirements, as well as school programs, polices, procedures, and activities.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing office automation software to prepare a variety of documents with accuracy; managing a detailed office calendar; and maintaining office records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Specialized Experience GS-07: I have one year of specialized experience which includes: Performing full administrative functions such as screen visitors/telephone calls, time and attendance tracking; maintaining office records, maintain calendars; reviewing and composing correspondences to ensure accuracy utilizing automated equipment; and making travel arrangements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
