You will serve as a South Asia Policy Program Manager of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 9.28% will be added to the stated salary and is subject to change at any time. This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.

Duties

You will serve as the special advisor for policy matters pertaining to political-military affairs with countries of South Asia. You will develop US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) positions on politico-military issues involving nation states of South Asia and their security relationship with the United States. You will develop and provide sound high-level strategic messaging and engagement planning and regional military policy. You will advise the division chief on personnel, task load, and integration of the division into the rest of the command. You will manages the INDOPACOM Task Management System (TMS) project distribution.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final top secret/sci security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following: 1) Analyzing and/or summarizing complex and political-military issues regarding South Asia for their potential impact on military relations for use in formulating US and allied national defense policy; 2) Comprehensive experience with policy matters pertaining to political military affairs with countries of South Asia and their security relationship with the United States; 3) Providing detailed analyses, summaries, and recommendations pertaining to the formulation, coordination and execution of national policy in the US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) area of responsibility; 4) Analyzing complex political-military issues for their potential impact on military relations and recommending appropriate courses of action; 5) Demonstrated leadership and program management skills necessary to direct, motivate, coordinate and integrate the work of others and to assess the effectiveness of efforts and programs.
