The employee will serve as a Secretary (Office Automation) at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, in Hines, IL. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principal administrative and clerical assistant to the Associate Director of Operations and Chief of Staff or the Associate Director of Operations and Associate Director of Patient Care Services.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Performs a full range of clerical/administrative duties.
Maintains multiple calendars and makes appointments.
Arranges conferences as needed, to include making travel and lodging arrangements.
Takes meeting minutes for meetings.
Prepares various correspondence, memorandums and reports.
Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls then directs them to the correct person.
Arranges conferences, meetings and interviews.
Provides staff timekeeping.
Provides internal and external customer service with ability to answer a variety of requests for information.
Performs other related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-7: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: performing the full range of clerical/administrative duties; maintaining multiple calendars and making appointments; managing, reviewing and editing correspondence; arranging conferences, meetings and interviews; screening calls and visitors; performing timekeeping; and utilizing communication skills both in-person and in-writing. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-8: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: performing the full range of clerical/administrative duties; maintaining multiple calendars and making appointments; managing, reviewing and editing correspondence; arranging conferences, meetings and interviews; screening calls and visitors; performing timekeeping; utilizing communication skills both in-person and in-writing; assisting with annual training plans; and assisting with unit budget preparation. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
