This position is under the supervision of the Section Chief of Respiratory Care Services displays proficiency and performs at a level of excellence in Respiratory Care. The incumbent effectively interacts with co-workers, patients and family members, program officials and others who have
an impact in the program in a manner which results in a measurable positive effect on implementing and accomplishing program objectives.
Duties
Major Duties:
Prepares a variety of documents that are accurate, neat and prepared within established guidelines including required due dates.
Schedules appointments, coordinates meeting arrangements and assists with education and/or conference planning.
Assists with the management of equipment and supply inventory.
Assures that each staff member in the following areas (Pulmonary Function, Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Lab) has appropriate time entered based on requests entered electronically and/or using a paper request.
Coordinates the scheduling of new Respiratory and Sleep students in terms of required HR paperwork.
Completes a department HR folder for each new student.
Prepares a department HR folder for new employees.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/18/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS0-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized to at least the GS-4 level in Federal service that you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as: receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office; scheduling appointments; coordinating meetings and conferences; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; preparing travel arrangements; and maintaining files. OR,
Education: Successful completion of 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR,
Combination: Equivalent combinations of creditable specialized experience and education as described above to meet the total requirements for the position. Combination of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED).

Physical Requirements: The work places no special physical demands on the employee. The work includes some walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items such as papers and books and occasionally, heavier items such as supplies . Moving of supply carts both empty and full of subsistence, chemicals and dry items, weighing up to 50lbs will occasionally be needed.
