You will serve as a OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH SPECIALIST of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.
This is a developmental position with a full performance level of GS-12. Applications will be accepted at both the GS-11 and GS-12 levels.
Duties
You will coordinate or perform safety and occupational health inspections, occupational health surveys, or field audits to identify unsafe work habits or work hazards.
You will perform respiratory training and fit testing to required personnel, so employees are aware of the proper use of equipment.
You will Collaborate with management to determine safety training needs and requirements.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and is required to obtain a forklift license.
Qualifications
For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Utilizing and applying safety regulations and policies to workplace activities; 2) Evaluating and analyzing safety and occupational health problems, conditions and administrative practices affecting work operations and environmental conditions; 3) Applying hazard control or elimination practices to a variety of situations.
For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Coordinating Safety Management Systems activities, monitoring effectiveness, initiating corrective actions, facilitating change, and/or enhancing safety management processes and procedures; 2) Applying OSHA safety regulations and policies to interpret and apply required guidance to workplace activities; 3) Promoting safety through the development, coordination, implementation, or evaluation of a comprehensive safety promotion program, such as safety training, monthly safety committee meetings, safety articles, safety talks, safety campaigns, safety initiatives, etc.; 4) Coordinating, assisting, conducting, or leading mishap and near miss investigations and/or damage to property; 5) Employing time/project management during the oversight activities of multiple safety programs and annual regulatory and reporting requirements; and 6) Providing safety program managers/personnel with guidance, implementation, training, and evaluation through the planning and coordination of safety programs.

Education
If applying at the GS-11 grade level, In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Successful completion of an LL.M., if related.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
