You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST, COMMANDER SAFETY MANAGER, AND COMMAND TRAINING SAFETY OFFICER in the NAVY EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMAND of NAVAL CONSTRUCTION TRAINING CTR.

Duties

Develop plans for safety and occupational health activities. Enter data into databases to set up and maintain files and records. Analyze results from investigations to determine precipitating factors and cause. Review mishap reports for accuracy and causal factors to institute corrective action and prevent recurrence.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, organizing, administering and evaluating Safety, Occupational Heath, and Environmental program in a training environment; 2) Developing safety education for supervisors and employees to apply safe work practices and accept changes or modifications to achieve a safe work environment; 3) Developing effective controls of work and equipment hazards resulting from new construction or modification of current facilities; 4) Developing effective controls, and evaluation processes for the High Risk Training program.
