This position is located in the Adjudications Branch, Personnel Security Division, Office of Security in BEP. As a Personnel Security Specialist (Adjudicator), you will serve as an Adjudicator, and are responsible for a variety of duties reflecting a good working knowledge of BEP suitability policy, procedures and regulations.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Responsible for review and adjudication of completed Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and Bureau of Engraving and Printing investigations (BI's, SSBI's, MRI's, NAC's and NACI's) and at times, Suitability Investigations (SI's) to determine Applicant's Contractor's and incumbent's suitability for employment, continued employment and access to the Bureau and/or it's products and/or processes.
Review and recommend to the supervisor or higher-level specialist, adjudicative action on Personnel Security Investigations, including portions of investigations conducted by other investigative agencies.
Responsible for preparing and screening cases for action by the supervisor.
Review preliminary fact finding where information reflects fraud or falsification and will recommend action as appropriate.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Analyzing results of investigative findings to make adjudicative determinations. AND
Applying security adjudicative guidelines in order to adjudicate cases requiring initial eligibility of a national security clearance.
For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Completing adjudicative reports. AND
Applying security adjudicative guidelines in order to adjudicate cases requiring initial eligibility of a national security clearance.
OR You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, if related. OR
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related. OR
LL.M., if related.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-9 level for 52 weeks.
