The primary purpose of this position is to serve as 1st level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over employees assigned to the NGB. Serves as Sr. MAJCOM Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and expert responsible for overseeing and directing ANG Cybersecurity and Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Programs.

Duties

Organizes, plans, and directs actions and activities ensuring ANG Cybersecurity complies with legal and regulatory requirements, and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities Represents ANG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

  • The employee may be required to work shift work or other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

  • Positions which perform information security as an inherent, primary purpose of their position: Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment.
  • This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
  • A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
  • Leave accrual may be authorized upon request
  • Position may perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Employee may be required to work overtime.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A). https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/ Specialized Experience: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes knowledge of information protection, information security, Cybersecurity, and C&A including intrusion analysis, transmission, storage and information processing methodology, computer capabilities, and various computer operating systems. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods. Knowledge of information protection, information security, Cybersecurity, and C&A including intrusion analysis, transmission, storage and information processing methodology, computer capabilities, and various computer operating systems Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize. and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
