Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response to optimize business results and customer experience by serving as a Senior Watch Officer in the Secretary's Operations Center (SOC): Leads shifts in the 24/7/365 SOC as a part of the Watch Team. Analyzes and provide advisory guidance to leadership in the application of emergency management principles, and Watch Operations to enable the execution of response operations for public health and medical emergencies under various directives. Advises internal and external stakeholders on the development, review, and evaluations of coordinated incident emergency public health and medical response operation plans for disasters and emergencies. Coordinates response operations, including the deployment of resources, personnel, and assets during public health emergencies. Coordinates internal Watch team assignments as needed during steady-State and response operations. Assists in the development of all division's programs including but not limited to: Alerting and Notification, Monitoring and Detection, Communications, Knowledge Management, Continuity of Operations, and International Health Regulations.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least 3 of the following: 1. Providing technical advice on preparedness and/or response activities associated with natural and/or man made disasters/emergencies. 2.Planning, coordinating, and/or executing emergency management exercises. 3. Integrating diverse stakeholders into emergency preparedness and response activities. 4. Providing or coordinating emergency response and preparedness training, exercises, and assistance.
