About the Position: Shaw Air Force Base is one of the largest military bases operated by the United States and is located approximately 8.4 miles west-northwest of downtown Sumter, SC.

Duties

Serves as an Operational Contract Support (OCS) Plans Specialist. Advises the OCS Division Chief on planning matters. Leads operations planning groups for long-range planning and development of emergency/contingency operations. Assists the Commander, other staff sections, and subordinate units in support of the mission. Directs, conducts, and oversees the completion of detailed studies on a variety of sensitive classified operational plans in response to United States Army Central (USARCENT) initiatives. Leads operations planning groups for long-range planning and development of emergency/contingency operations and resolution of problem areas as directed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.
  • Incumbent is required to pass medical screening for Temporary Duty (TDY) travel within USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility and must adhere to DoD requirements for required immunizations and medications specific to countries visited.
  • During TDY assignments, incumbent is required to work extended daily work hours, and a 7-daywork week as well as to live under 'austere' field conditions.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Practitioner Certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Utilizing the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP); (2) Evaluating military capability gaps that would require a contract solution; AND (3) Analyzing data to provide recommendations to operational planning such as contingency plans, war plans and training programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Education cannotbe substituted for experience. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
