Duties
Analyzes, plans, and evaluates directorate functions to determine validity, propriety, accuracy, and adequacy of work processes.
Reviews and analyzes a variety of reports received from internal and external sources, including reports produced by automated systems.
Performs quality control examinations of operations, policies, procedures, and internal controls including the analysis of data and information with the objective to prevent and detect deficiencies in the operation of functional area systems.
Receives special projects pertaining to improperly processed transactions resulting from newly legislated and implemented entitlements.
Interprets applicable guidelines and regulations to assist in implementation of approved/directed internal procedural changes to accomplish financial management objectives.
Examines a wide variety of documents, records, and related reports, and processes, to determine whether performance has been in accordance with GAO procedures and appropriate regulations.

Qualifications
GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing financial management analysis to identify operational issues and recommend corrective actions; applying knowledge of financial management principles as they relate to automated systems processing and financial operations; and researching financial directives and regulations to assess their impact on current and planned operations.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in Federal Service.
Education
GS-11: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level, directly related graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
