You will serve as a HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN in the Utilities Division of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
Pay for WG-08: $29.72/hr - $34.65/hr
Pay for WG-10: $33.81/hr - $39.47/hr
Duties
You will maintain hand tools and equipment (e.g., substations, ground level switches) for power distribution.
You will determine excessive current flow or other signs of improper electrical systems.
You will diagnose and determine corrective action for electric power controlling equipment (e.g., switch gear, transformer banks, circuit breakers).
You will make emergency cutouts and substitutions in the event of breakdowns or as necessary for extensive repairs.
Requirements

- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

WG-10: The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Reading electrical blueprints and sketches to find aid in electrical equipment work assignments; 2) Interpreting readings from voltmeters, ammeter, ohmmeters, meggers, hydrometers, and other equipment; and 3) Assisting in the connecting and disconnecting of shore power cables. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
WG-08: The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Following instructions to repair high voltage electrical power-generating and distribution equipment (e.g., generators, transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments, and control systems); 2) Reading circuit drawing and diagrams to identify electrical problems; 3) Using safety equipment such as hot sticks, rubber brackets, and insulated gloves when working on energized high voltage electrical systems.).
