About the Position: At the agency level, The Budget Officer is responsible for executing a segment of the agency budget. This position is located at US Army Installation Management CMD USAG Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Fort Bragg is co-located in Fayetteville, North Carolina a culturally diverse city centrally located just hours away from the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.
Duties
Develop local budget policies based on directives and regulations issued by OMB, service headquarters and Comptroller General decisions.
Present and recommend budget adjustments, reprogramming and resolution of budget problems at command/bureau and agency levels.
Serve as technical authority and consultant budget for formulation and execution for the agency or component.
Serve as expert planner, coordinator and advisor for agency policy regarding contingency/mobilization planning/readiness within DoD constraints.
Interview candidates for vacant positions and initiates selections, promotions, and/or reassignments.
Provides guidance to employees in identifying training and development needs to enhance their capabilities.
Requirements
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station.
- Employee must be willing and able to travel in military and commercial aircraft and vehicles.
- Employee may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
- THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Develop local budget policies based on directives and regulations issued by OMB, service headquarters and Comptroller General decisions. 2) Serve as technical authority and consultant budget for formulation and execution for the agency or component.; and 3) Serve as expert planner, coordinator and advisor for agency policy regarding contingency/mobilization planning/readiness within DoD constraints. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
