This position is located with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, Training Center Yorktown, Yorktown, VA.
Duties
The selectee serves as a Training Instructor to a diverse student population with the primary purpose to train and evaluate advanced technical systems and procedures for Coast Guard Intelligence. In addition, the Instructor develops and updates course material and performs administrative duties required to document trainee performance. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignees include:

Qualifications
FOR THE GS-11 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level (in the federal service). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: developing course content and implementing subsequent modifications; interpreting regulations and policies to implement intelligence programs; interpreting and applying Coast Guard Intelligence program (CGIP) policies and procedures and presenting technical information in a clear and concise manner that was easily understood by the target audience.
OR
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related
OR
A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. This can be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for this grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-11.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
