You will serve as a Supervisory Supply Management Specialist in the Hazardous Materials Branch of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will be on-hand to assist with internal and/or external Hazardous Material inventory, environmental and safety audit support. You will directly oversee and control all detailed day-to-day aspects (planning, directing, leading, and coordinating). You will perform related budget/financial duties. You will supervise a team of supply specialists. You will manage and direct operations to ensure effective and efficient use of all resources. You will monitor performance measures to ensure timeframes and benchmarks are being met. You will schedule and conduct Hazardous Material Communications training sessions for all subordinate personnel.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may be coded as ?key? and as such you may be required be removed from military recall status. A signed statement of understanding is required.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift when work is performed outside the office environment.
  • The work is performed in offices, aboard ships, industrial areas, warehouse environments as well as in shore storage facilities, depot and shipyard shops.
  • You must be able to distinguish between colors.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector equipping you with knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Assist with and perform inventory and audits; 2) Identify or develop processes for control of Hazardous Material usage, storage and procurement; 3) Research, analyze, and convert data and information into written reports with recommendations for improvement; 4) Determine funding needs and manage budget within monetary constraints; 5) Conceive, develop, and implement innovative procedures/methods to increase managerial effectiveness.
