The Branch Chief position is located in the Civil Division of the D.C. Superior Court. The incumbent provides leadership and oversight of branch operations in compliance with applicable court regulations and division policies and processes. The incumbent provides information to attorneys, judges, court personnel and the general public regarding landlord and tenant case information, procedures and processes.
Duties
The Branch Chief provides leadership and guidance to a staff of approximately 20 employees including supervisors. The incumbent ensures accurate and timely processing of landlord and tenant cases in compliance with written and oral mandates by ensuring proper training and supervision of staff. The incumbent evaluates policies, procedures and practices and makes recommendations for improvement and new initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation and submission of monthly and annual operational reports.
Requirements
- Background and security investigation are required.
- A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in legal studies, business, public relations, human resources or related field with five (5) years of experience in an office, public service agency, court, or legal environment plus two (2) years of supervisory experience. Graduation from the Courts’ Management Training Program may substitute for one (1) year of supervisory experience. You must provide documentation of your management training with your application, i.e. copy of certificate.Preferred applicants will have more than two (2) years of supervisory experience.
