This position is the Section Chief in the Health Administration Service (HAS) for the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (CNVAMC). The incumbent provides a high level of administrative support to HAS, upper management and clinical services. The incumbent directly supervises the Ward Administration Section, Enrollment & Eligibility, AODs, Data management and training, and data validation function.
Duties
Provides leadership and direction to Inpatient Operations within Health Administration.
Manages and leads the programs for Ward Administration, Enrollment & Eligibility, AODs, Data management and training, and data validation function.
Analyzing data for patterns and trends, ability to supervise and train.
Coordinates follow up items with other Section Chiefs in HAS, Nursing and Clinical Service on admissions.
Develops policies and procedures and procedures for the smooth operation of administrative functions of data validation of workload data, insurance and billing data and use of standardized tools by all people at the facility.
Work Schedule: The operation is 24 by 7 so other days and hours including weekends and holidays may be required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement,07/26/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: comprehensive knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, guidelines and procedures; experience in the field of patient administration, both inpatient and outpatient, medical records and related fields of medical administration; varied functions of computer spreadsheets, database computer applications, etc., to produce and maintain a whole variety of documents; teaches, trains and orients other staff to data validation methods and monitoring systems. analyze and validates reports of data, workload and funding, etc. .

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, but requires some walking, bending, stooping and carrying of light objects such as: manuals, documents, etc. Concentration and sustained performance under prolonged stress is required because of the time factors involved in completion of work assignments within deadlines.
