The Supervisory Program Specialist works under the general supervisor of the Chief, Health Administration Service (HAS) at the Charlie Norwood VAMC in Augusta, GA.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Responsible for organizing and scheduling all mandatory training and education of the administrative personnel;
Setting performance standards, evaluations, initiating action on disciplinary matters, awards, labor relations, approval of leave and work schedules;
Reviews work in progress or upon completion and spot checks work as deemed necessary to assess the quality and quantity of work produced by each employee;
Assures medical record processing is done in accordance with established time frames;
Applies a comprehensive knowledge of all service activities and operations and is able to direct and conduct the activities of this position;
Keeps the Practice Group informed and up-to-date concerning appropriate administrative regulation;
other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/28/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
GS-9: Do you possess (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level? To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to experience that demonstrate knowledge of public laws, code of federal regulations and veterans administration directives; and experience controlling and coordinating admissions to a medical centers; providing reports to leadership; ensuring data is procured and filed in accordance to policies and procedures;

Physical Requirements: Work is a mixture of an office environment and a large clerical/administrative office complex. The space is environmentally controlled with some prolonged walking due to the layout of the facility and the dispersion of the staff being supervised. Some prolonged standing may be required in clinics. The work does not required heavy lifting or physical demands any different from a typical office setting. The incumbent may be required to travel from facility to facility in order to coordinate the workload of staff assigned to the CBOCs.
