The Employee acts as the direct and key liaison between the Associate Director for Patient Care Services, medical center service chiefs, network facilities, VISN Office, Central Office, and provides a wide variety of information relative to a variety of subject matter. The Employee acts as personal assistant to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services, planning, fact finding, analyzing, and making recommendations on sensitive issues using tact and discretion.
Duties
Major Duties include but are not limited to:
-Receives all visitors and telephone call bound for the ADPCS.
-Receives requests from other organizations within the Medical Center, VISN 12, VACO, and VA for information concerning programs under the ADPCS's control.
-Assists in responding to information and project queries through the preparation of technical correspondence.
-Coordinates Service and facility-wide annual professional activities and other assigned actions.
-Prepares written memoranda, records and reports.
-Responds to administrative problems.
-Responsible for expediting project management and coordination.
-Conducts training classes for Medical Center support staff.
-Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences.
-Transcribes conference calls.
-Completes minutes for assigned committees.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: 7:30am - 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. For a GS-08 position, you must have served 52 weeks as the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

GS-7 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: Knowledge of administrative concepts, principles, and practices. Knowledge of human resources management functions (e.g. performance management, labor relations, and recruitment and appointment procedures.). Knowledge and skill in the use of the computer, printer, and utilization of VISTA and CPRS. Skill in public and interpersonal relations and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels.; OR
GS-8 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: Knowledge of administrative concepts, principles, and practices. Knowledge of all services and their programs, proper line of communication, and policies and procedures developed by the facility, VISN, and Central Office. Knowledge of human resources management functions (e.g. performance management, labor relations, and recruitment and appointment procedures.) Knowledge of time keeping regulations and requirements. Knowledge and skill in the use of the computer, printer, and utilization of VISTA and CPRS. Skill in public and interpersonal relations and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels. Skill in advising and instructing subordinate offices concerning the required reporting and procedural instructions.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing bending and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts and requires normal safety precautions typical of such places as meeting and training rooms, libraries, or commercial vehicles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
