This position is located on the Boise National Forest in Boise, ID. The incumbent serves as a Program Support Specialist to the Forest Supervisor and Deputy Forest Supervisor on a Forest Service Unit and is responsible for the administrative support program to the Forest Supervisor, Deputy Forest Supervisor and the Forest Leadership Team. Duties

Initiate contact with staff officers and program managers and provide technical advice and guidance on procedural issues. Screen all telephone calls and visitor requests and responded to non-technical inquiries Communicate with employees, supervisors, and managers of the same agency to evaluate organizational goals, identify administrative/procedural issues, and make recommendations for resolving any problems Manage administrative activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness and procedural compliance Schedule meetings and reserved conference spaces.

Requirements

  • You must be a US Citizen or US National.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement:For the GS-07. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level; Specialized experience is defined as four or more of the following: Under supervision, analyzed and planned new methods and procedures designed to improve operations and administrative effectiveness within a staff; and/or Updated calendars and exercised limited control over time commitments; and/or Scheduled meetings and made arrangements such as preparing agendas; and/or Reserved conference space and notifying participants; and/or Arranged for travel, prepared itineraries, and assisted with preparing necessary documents for travel reimbursement; OR an appropriate combination of graduate level education and specialized experience; OR Superior Academic Achievement (go to this site determine if you are eligible: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
