As a Program Support Assistant you will provide administrative support through the accomplishment of program and clerical work at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF).
Duties
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Reviews outgoing correspondence and documents for conformance with departmental policies, grammar, and format.
Composes correspondence, assembles information for various reports and prepares material for presentation.
Makes travel arrangements, including transportation and hotel reservations, notifying organizations and officials to be visited, and maintaining itineraries.
Prepares travel vouchers with associated documentation after travel is completed.
Processes time and attendance reports.
Arranges appointments and conferences for the staff of assigned area.
Maintains complex program files, determines need for and establishes file controls and records as required.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

- Successful completion of one-year trial period.

- The work is performed in office and laboratory settings or meeting/conference facilities.
- Travel to other laboratories and other cities is occasionally required.
- Criminal Justice Information Services database check required for work involving Biological Select Agents and Toxins.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
FOR THE GS-06 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-5 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Managing multiple tasks, serving as a point of contact, and providing administrative support to supervisor.
Communicating clearly and concisely in writing to produce quality documents, reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
Using common/standard office suite software to prepare correspondence, meeting notes, reports, calendars, presentations, and spreadsheets.
NOTE: There is no education substitution for this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
