This position works as a foreman in the Maintenance Mechanic Shop of Facilities Management Service, Maintenance and Operations Section. This position is responsible for general repairs to the main hospital campus constituting 1.6M sq. ft. General repairs are multi-trade in nature, and this position requires knowledge of masonry, locksmith skills, and the ability to function at the journeyman carpenter level.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Supervising integrated work teams and performing administrative record keeping.
Plans work schedules, order repair parts, materials and supplies, sequences operations to assure that the necessary manpower, equipment, and material are available for work order completion.
Establishes work priorities and deadlines for maintenance or projects on the basis of general work schedules, methods, policies and the established goals of the service line and Medical Center.
Experience with masonry, locksmithing, and function at the journeyman carpenter level.
Full knowledge of the proper and safe use of all types of power tools and test equipment being used in his/her section.
Responsibility for general repairs to all building sheet rock, concrete, concrete block, fences, doors walls, ceiling floors, closers, sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and roofs.
Responsible for the maintenance and repair to locks and panic devices.
Responsible for the installation and repair of cabinets, flooring (ceramic, vinyl, quarry, marble, etc.), bulletin boards, the repairing of furniture.
Experience in the trades as a journeyman carpenter or plasterer.
Experience in the trades as a journeyman plasterer.
Reads and understands building plans, blueprints, technical publications, and installation and maintenance manuals.
Sizes up jobs and makes take-off of all materials accurately.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift between 7:00am and 3:30pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent is exposed to a full array of weather conditions. Incumbent is subject to danger of falling when working from ladders or hydraulic lifts. Exposed to dust/dirt while mixing mortar and handling materials. Work is performed in all areas of the hospital environment, inside and outside. Work is often dirty, dusty and grease. The incumbent is subjected to such hazardous conditions as injury from power driven tools, falling from scaffolds and ladders. Temperature extremes, noise, and bad weather conditions. He/she is frequently exposed to the possibilities of chemicals which can cause burns or irritation to the skin. Some duties may require incumbent to wear protective equipment and clothing that that is heavy and uncomfortable. Position may require incumbent to work beyond regular tour of duty including but not limited to: after hours, weekends, holidays.
