About the Position: This position is with the National Guard Bureau, G-9, Conservation Branch, Arlington, VA.
About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.
Duties
Develop plans and manage policy, guidance, and training to ensure that Army National Guard's (ARNG) training sites and facilities supported with federally appropriated funds.
Perform duties associated with the ARNG Conservation Branch Program in support of the federally supported ARNG facilities and training sites.
Serve as the conduit of technical information between installations, states, and DA/DoD counterparts in the implementation of Natural Resource management programs.
Monitor the quality of ARNG environmental programs through analysis of various databases, to include the Army Environmental Quality Report, Status Tool for the Environment (STEP) and Environmental Performance Assessment System (EPAS)

IOR Basic Requirements General Natural Resources Management and Biological position 0401
Bachelor's Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
IOR Basic Requirements for Wildlife Biologist position 0486
Bachelor's Degree-biological science that included:
At least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and
At least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); and
At least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences.
OR
Combination of education and experience: equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above you must also meet the specialized experience below.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes carry out standard natural resource management procedures and advice customers on Federal laws such as Sikes Act and Endangered Species Act, assist in monitoring environmental programs through analysis of various databases such as: Environmental Quality database (EQ), Status Tool for Environmental Programs (STEP), Environmental Performance Assessment System (EPAS); assist in land management processes; coordinate and implement National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to assist in validating resource requirements.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above]).
