You will serve as a General Supply Specialist in the Project Material Manager Branch (Code 522), Supply Material Support Division, Supply Department, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine.

Duties

You will serve as liaison ensuring all material required for repair and alteration of ships during availabilities is ordered, expedited, received and inspected to support production schedules. You will develop and execute the planning and coordination of complex acquisition plans. You will develop process improvements for increased accuracy of identification, ordering and delivery of services and material for future work. You will collaborate with project management to determine critical path materials and long lead time materials, discuss project progress and material status, set priorities, and resolve material challenges and barriers.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Relocation Incentive may be authorized in accordance with applicable regulations and available command funding and may require a service agreement.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of supply programs and/or operations. Experience analyzing and resolving issues and problems involving supply processes, work methods, supply data management, or day-to-day operational procedures. Experience tracking the flow of materials from original and subsequent acquisition through shipment and storage, to final distribution and shipment to customers. Experience conducting inventory and catalog searches and assisting customers by recommending alternate items.
