You will serve as a CASUALTY ASSISTANCE CALLS COORDINATOR (TRAINER) in the COMMAND AND STAFF Subdivision of COMNAVREG SE JAX.
Duties
You will provide training and case management for Casualty Assistance Calls within the Southeast Region.
You will assist and direct Casualty Assistance Calls Officers (CACO) in the performance of their duties.
You will receive notification of casualties, such as, the death, serious or very serious illness or injury, or special category; of an active duty Sailor, reserve or Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employee.
You will identify the appropriate regional command for assignment of a CACO and immediate notification of the NOK (next-of-kin).
You will review current federal and state laws to determine families' benefits and entitlements due for example,
Service member's Life Group Insurance (SGLI), Death Gratuity (DG), and other benefits.
You will serve as the CACO Training Instructor with responsibility for developing, implementing, training and certifying CACOs, Sailors and Family Members in Pre-Deployment and Routine Casualty Preparedness, and Mass Casualty participation.
You will perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with DoD guidance, policy and procedures concerning Casualty Assistance, Personnel Casualty Matters, Policies and Procedures, Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO)/Funeral Honors Support (FHS) Program Coordination, CACO Program, Decedent Affairs Manual, Disposition of Personal Effects in order to act as the Point of Contact (POC) for questions concerning Casualty Assistance, both from the Casualty Assistance Officers and the Next of Kin (NOK);
Experience applying verbal and written communication skills to respond positively to inquiries from the NOK, Congress, and other high-level officials;
Experience researching, selecting, interpreting and applying rules, regulations, procedures and guidelines to determine appropriate actions, develop or revise regulations and policies relevant to the Casualty Assistance Program; AND
Experience dealing cooperatively and effectively with representatives inside and outside the organization, including both military and civilian organizations, agencies, and companies, to obtain needed information, complete required tasks/processing, and to explain/brief decisions or recommendations to others.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.M. that is related to this position being filled.
