This position provides writing, editing and communications support across QPS to accomplish the ultimate goal to provide the highest quality healthcare to Veterans across the nation. The incumbent performs analytical, qualitative, and administrative functions related to communications and writing/editing.
Duties
Duties include:
Writing and editing for print, broadcast, and electronic media including newspapers, magazines, brochures, radio, the Internet, and television.
Writing and editing content for congressional talking points; directives; policies; correspondence; and response to queries. Writes news releases, feature stories, scripts, announcements, speeches, copy, and fact sheets for both internal and external audiences
Arranging subject matter expert interviews and performing topic research as required and coordinating photo support as needed.
Performing edit services on materials written by other communications team members, QPS leadership and QPS staff that may be used for internal and/or external publications, as well as medical journals. Edits may include verifying facts/information, message to audience analysis, use of appropriate grammar, length and complexity, etc.
Organizing, tracking, and handling multiple projects simultaneously and initiating regular updates to the Director of Communications and others on their progress.
Developing and monitoring project management tracking databases to ensure all aspects of a project are covered and on track with appropriate lead time.
Using desktop publishing hardware and software to draft, edit, and layout the material and design, print, and distribute it, as needed.
Utilizing Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel to represent written ideas and distribute content to various audiences.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, Mon-Fri.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/04/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

GS-13 Qualifications
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be minimally qualified for this position, you must have 4 of the 6 specialized experiences below.
Specialized Experience is:
Writing and editing work for print, broadcast, and electronic media including newspapers, magazines, brochures, radio, the Internet, and television.
Writing news releases, feature stories, scripts, announcements, speeches, copy, and fact sheets for both internal and external audiences.

Physical Requirements: Work is usually performed sitting at a desk, in news conferences, briefings, meetings, etc.; or riding in an automobile or public transportation. There may be occasional brief visits to sites; however, no special physical demands are involved in performing the work.
