You will serve as a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) in the Mission Support Division of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
Duties
You will be responsible for coordinating security measures including analysis, periodic testing, evaluation, verification, certification, accreditation, and review of information system installation at the appropriate classification level.
You will manage and be responsible for the laboratory wide security compliance of all NRL Special Access systems.
You will independently define, lead, and manage the NRL Special Access Cyber Security Program.
You will serve as the primary liaison between NRL Senior leadership and external special access organizations to foster cohesive relationships as well as address immediate security issues.
You will perform assessment and recommendations with regard to acceptable risk.
You will be responsible for establishing long range plans to ensure that all personnel under his/her purview meet or exceed assigned objectives.

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for the appropriate specialty area and level within 12 months of appointment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band (NO-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC). Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Independently defining, leading, and managing a Cyber Security Program; 2) Demonstrating experience in Special Access programs; 3) Certifying hardware and software information system installation for layered networks; and 4) Exhibiting extensive experience in Microsoft Windows operating systems, LINUX, UNIX Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), firewalls, routers, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Secure Shell (SSH) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
