The person in this position serves as the Administrative Officer for Ambulatory Care at the VA Medical Center in East Orange, NJ. This position is responsible for providing budget, personnel, quality management, education, logistics, credentialing and privileging, medical administration, performance improvement, and contract oversight support for the service.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties and responsibilities include: Manages and orchestrates the daily administrative function for the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) and Ambulatory Care Service Manages executive correspondence, to include responding to Congressional inquiries Addresses patient complaints and concerns Plans, assigns, and monitors the work of employees in the administrative section of the service Oversees all data reporting in the service Supervises and develops work priorities and objectives Assists in the development of long and short-term goals for the services Represent the service on various committees and work groups Leads projects and data report development Maintains, analyzes, and reports performance data Coordinates personnel management functions within the service Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for all service contracts Monitors and oversees training compliance Manages budgets for sections of the service Develops business plans for special initiatives Oversees clinic scheduling and directs scheduling audits Performs other related duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) in Federal Service that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of an Administrative Officer GS-11. Specialized experience is experience where you were responsible for providing a variety of management services essential to the direction and operation of a department or organization to include human resources/personnel management; budget/fiscal management; analyzing data and program effectiveness. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. ~OR~ EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education or doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) related to the work of this position. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcript with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~ COMBINATION: Equivalent combination of successfully completed higher level graduate education (beyond the second year/masters level) and specialized experience, as described above, which meets the total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
