You will serve as a Security Assistant in the Security Department of NAVAL WAR COLLEGE.
Duties
You will ensure all personnel adhere to established national security protocols.
You will coordinate events with Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Offices.
You will review and assist in basic security issues.
You will interpret regulations, guidelines and manuals related to personal security.
You will maintain a level of confidentiality in all aspects of your duties.
You will operate multiple systems and programs related to personnel security.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position. A SPeD certification is required within 24 months, must be maintained length of the appointment. Declining SPeD certification or loss of certification is grounds for removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices in performing duties associated with personnel/visitor control; 2) Completing validation of eligibility in security systems; 3) Validating and submitting electronic fingerprints and demographics; and 4) Supporting the submission of requests that pertain to foreign travel and foreign contacts.
