Duties

As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Responsible for overseeing the development of external and internal communication Strategies; Responsible for the implementation of external and internal communication strategies; Advises senior agency officials on Public Affairs policy, programs, and operations; Responds to national and local media on significant agency issues and operations; and Supervises assigned public affairs officers, writers, and support staff. Salary: The salary range indicated in this announcement reflects the lowest and highest potential salaries for this position. The actual salary range will be based on the applicable locality pay for the selected duty location. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Developing strategies and materials that informs the public of organization's policies, programs, services, and activities; Proactive engagement with media and advising senior leadership on media response strategies; Analyze media engagement strategies and interpret feedback to determine approaches to best educate and inform; Working on communication plans and strategies establishing scope, objectives, deadlines, and contingency plans meeting approval channels and procedures; AND Developing news releases, messages, and talking points working with stakeholders. Time in Grade Requirement GS-14: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
