You will serve as the ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will assist in organizing, Plan, and direct the Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Program You will represent the Commanding Officer across all organizational lines to expedite problem solving and provide liaison. You will review SUBSAFE work in progress and advice managers to stop work not in compliance with SUBSAFE requirements. You will ensure accuracy and completeness of internal SUBSAFE audits and forward reports to NAVSEA. You will report in a timely manner to NAVSEA 07Q significant problems affecting SUBSAFE and provide copies of SUBSAFE related Casualty Reports (CASREPs), Incident, and Trouble Reports or their equivalents. You will ensure that the system used for certifying SUBSAFE work, including off-station work, complies with SUBSAFE requirements. You will interpret technical drawings. You will review engineering instructions and procedures to develop new approaches and modify standard practices, techniques, and/or procedures. You will analyze and recommend quality improvements of complex programs that support critical submarine work.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will need comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated experience in planning, development, and execution of Pre-Sea Trial Certification and SUBSAFE Functional Audits.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing or making recommendations to manage elements of SUBSAFE programs including instructions, procedures, directives, processes, production and quality programs to ensure compliance with SUBSAFE Program Requirements.
