You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TECHNICIAN in the Radiated Noise & Decomposition Puget Sound Section (Code 7141), of the Signature Characterization and Analysis Division (Code 71) NSWC CARD DIV D.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and the GS-14.
Duties
You will serve as the Section Head of the Radiated Noise and Decomposition Puget Sound Section (Code 7141) of the Signature Characterization and Analysis Division (Code 71).
You will supervise approximately eleven engineers and scientists, and manage technical projects and funding.
You will plan, execute, and analyze test and evaluation measurements to identify and evaluate underwater acoustic radiated noise sources.
You will provide radiated noise analysis and technical guidance for SSN 688, SSBN/GN 726, SSN 21, and SSN 774 class submarines during full scale acoustic signature trials as well as for small scale vehicles and equipment.
You will report the results from the test and evaluation efforts, including radiated noise signature components, means for mitigating the noise deficiencies, and make recommended corrective action and measures.
You will initiate work within the Branch and Division that supplements acoustic trial activities and expands the Department’s capability in new emerging acoustic threat areas.
You will provide radiated noise support for acoustic measurement systems in development, upgrade, validation, and during testing.
You will communicate with Division 71, Department 70, NAVSEA stakeholders, and academia as needed.
You will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and training technical personnel.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You will be required to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 40 pounds in weight.
- You will be required to work onboard ships.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-4 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering project oversight or applying engineering principles and methodologies to provide radiated noise analysis or technical guidance for submarine acoustic testing.
