About the Position: Conducts aptitude and qualification examinations at the Military Entrace Procession Station (MEPS) and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites for the applicants of the various Armed Services. Tests include the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) - ASVAB, Internet CAT-ASVAB.
Duties
Briefs applicants, distributes examinations, scores exams, performs quality control of examination, sends results to appropriate personnel, and performs data entry of results into the appropriate accession reporting system.
Assists in conducting test material inventories as required and ensures strict accountability and security of all testing materials.
Operates a variety of office automation equipment including personal computers, mobile computing devices, facsimile machines, scanners, digital copiers, and industrial shredders.
Ensures security and accountability of all accountable test material when conducting test sessions. Scores enlistment and high school tests using automated and non-automated methods.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Cross-trains in other functions of the MEPS (such as processing) and performs these functions as required.
- Handles accountable test material.
- Will be required to conduct test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school tests at inner city, rural, and/or at risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students).
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required (if the MEPS conducts night testing, this work will entail night shift work when the Test Clerk is the only employee in the building.)
- Evenings (if applicable): 1130-2000, Saturdays: 0530-1430, Sundays (if applicable): 1400-2000, Morning Opening Shift: 0530-1430
- Frequent local travel and occasional TDY may be required (may require hotel stay for multiple nights to meet mission requirements).
- Must be in possession of or have ability to obtain a drivers license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting in conducting and proctoring examinations for applicants at a testing site, and 2) Briefing applicants on examination procedures/directions to ensure understanding, and 3) Conducting scoring of examinations and compiling test results and information into a centralized reporting system, and 4) Safe guarding testing materials to ensure no loss or compromise of testing materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
