About the Position: Provide paralegal and administrative assistance to the Soldiers Medical Evaluation Board (MEB)Counsel and Legal Assistance Attorneys in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate who provide legal services to eligible clients who are active duty and retired members of the military services and their families. Located at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Duties

Summarize comparative legal data to examine and evaluate deficiencies. Research a variety of legal documents to make recommendations to attorneys. Keep abreast of legislative developments, judicial decisions, and/or opinions to addresses policy concerns. Train support personnel on legal concepts, associated with day-to-day operations. Assist with the development and implementation of legal training/training courses. Draft outlines covering specific legal issues for use by the attorney working on a particular case. Prepare a variety of legal documents such as: witness requests and requests for production of documents, appeals, powers of attorney, last will and testament, advance medical directives.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's Degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Pre-Law or Paralegal Studies. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
