About the Position: Works under the general supervision of the Regional Command Judge Advocate in the Medical Readiness Command (MRC), U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM). Serves as Paralegal Specialist providing legal support work to attorneys in all areas of law.
Duties
Provides support to the Command Judge Advocate and staff attorneys on administrative law matters, which may require coordination with supporting Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, on a wide variety of complex administrative and general law subjects.
Coordinates the command Government Ethics Program.
Manages the Region Gift Acceptance Programs, including gifts of travel IAW U.S. laws and gifts to the Command and their families IAW law, regulation, and policy.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in support of the command Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act programs.
Requirements

- 10% TDY may be required

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or work experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting laws and regulations; reviewing principles, concepts, and/or methods of legal research and analysis; preparing legal papers; conducting summaries of legal analysis; and providing technical oversight in a legal setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Legal Studies, Criminal Justice-Law, and Law. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
