This position is part of National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Preservation Programs, Conservation Branch. Pathways Recent Graduates Program affords experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-5, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. This experience must be related to the operation or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable objects. For this position, specialized experience is defined as experience: - Handling archival records in a museum, archives or library setting OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for experience as follows: 4 years above high school OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: You may qualify with a combination of specialized experience and related education. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

Education

To be eligible for the Pathways Recent Graduates Program, you must have within the previous two years, completed a qualifying Associates, Bachelors, Masters, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational or Technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution; educational institutions must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U. S. Department of Education.

Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their two-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed six years from the date they completed their degrees or certification. You MUST submit a copy of DD-214 showing the duration and dates of service that precluded you from applying due to a military service obligation.

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
