This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Reports to the Deputy Director of Preservation Program as a first level supervisor, and Director of Preservation Programs as a second level supervisor. Serves as a senior preservation expert and program manager in the Preservation Programs (RX) Division, in the office of Research Services (R) Department.
Duties
As a PRESERVATION PROGRAM OFFICER, you will:
- Serve as a Program Manager overseeing one of several preservation programs that are assigned to the Agency itself, Presidential Libraries, or Agency Services or other program segments.
- Direct, coordinate, or participate in preservation projects and studies designed to resolve complex problems affecting the long-term preservation of NARA holdings.
- Lead engagement, communication, and overall liaison with assigned program areas, while serving as departmental (Preservation Programs) and agency's (NARA) representative for policy, preservation and other areas of expertise to other Federal agencies and non-Federal organizations.
- Collaboratively develop and recommend adoption of NARA plans for assessing preservation policy and technological needs, identifying problem areas and processes where current technology could be effectively utilized, and delineating needs for research and development.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Utilizing preservation concepts, laws, regulations, and policies, sufficient to provide advice and guidance to management relative to incorporating program strategies and operational processes; AND
- Proposing and implementing technical and procedural solutions related to document or object conservation and/or strategies for preservation program improvement to assure the continuing effectiveness of activities in support of an agency's mission.
