This Administrative Officer position is located in the Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Service Line of the VA Western New York Health Care System in Buffalo, New York. The incumbent will provide a variety of services in such areas as budget, planning, program administration, and training.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
To qualify for the GS-12
Specialized Experience: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties this position. Specialized experience is experience where you were responsible for providing a variety of management services essential to the direction and operation of a clinical program to include budget/fiscal management; human resources/personnel management; analyzing and evaluating data to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of a clinical program; ensuring staff are kept updated on regulatory changes through informal/formal training; and knowledge of procurement and contracting administrative functions. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary in nature although some slight physical effort may be required. Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. Occasional travel required.
