As a Strategic Planning Coordinator in the Office of Chief of Staff (OCoS), you will enhance the productivity and efficiency of VA employees to deliver quality IT services to Veterans and their families. Incumbent serves as the technical expert for organizational guidance and policy, ensuring strategic planning directly supporting the mission, priorities, and OIT directives.
Duties
Design and maintain a roadmap for IT policy updates, prioritizing initiatives that enhance compliance, improve service quality, and support agency objectives.
Develop and lead the implementation of IT strategies to align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements, ensuring the efficient operation of assigned service lines.
Leads, coordinates, communicates, integrates and is accountable for the overall success of the program, ensuring alignment with agency or enterprise priorities.
Lead the development of risk mitigation plans, identifying potential IT risks and implementing solutions that strengthen service line resilience.
Provide expert guidance on IT strategic planning, including resource allocation and project prioritization to enhance overall IT service delivery.
Research emerging IT trends and best practices, recommending innovations that support the agency's mission and improve service efficiency.
Collaborate with key stakeholders across departments to gather input and ensure IT strategies and initiatives meet both current and future agency needs.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategic IT initiatives, regularly assessing progress and making adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
Oversee the coordination of cross-functional project teams, ensuring successful execution of strategic IT plans and adherence to timelines and budgets.
Coordinate and manage the overall service provided to a customer end to end. Gathers feedback on customer satisfaction and internal service performance to foster continual improvement.
Possess knowledge of, and skill in applying, analytical methods sufficient to evaluate established methods and procedures, recommending changes where appropriate.
Possesses knowledge of, and skill in applying the organization's enterprise IT goals and objectives sufficient to draft IT documentation and communications.
Perform other duties as required.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm (Negotiable)

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
GS12: extensive experience in IT policy planning and strategic development with specific expertise in managing and supporting a large-scale IT organization. Supporting the development of strategic policies, overseeing tasks to ensure agency-wide compliance and improved service delivery. Close coordination with stakeholders to ensure IT strategies are effectively integrated with broader organizational objectives. Analytical skills to prioritize projects and resolve complex IT challenges, supporting the organization's long-term operational efficiency.
GS-13: extensive experience in IT policy planning and strategic development with specific expertise in managing and supporting a large-scale IT organization. Leading the development of strategic policies, ensuring agency-wide compliance and improved service delivery. Leading coordination with stakeholders to ensure IT strategies are effectively integrated with broader organizational objectives. Advanced analytical skills to prioritize projects and resolve complex IT challenges, supporting the organization's long-term operational efficiency.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
