This position is located in the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's (PBGC), Office of Information Technology (OIT), IT Infrastructure Operations Department (ITIOD). Duties

The candidate selected for this position will:

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen
  • You may undergo a personnel security background investigation
  • Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt
  • 1-year probationary period required unless met during prior Federal service
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency

Qualifications

All qualification and eligibility requirements must be met by the announcement closing date. To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications and/or education for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. GS-07: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the private sectorapplying basic IT principles and practices to assist in information technology (IT) infrastructure processes, policies, tools and projects. Examples include: assisting senior developers with analysis, design, coding, testing and/or implementation of software or automated systems, and interaction with projects related to software/hardware installation, operation and maintenance. GS-09: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the private sector applying IT policies, concepts, and frameworks (i.e., Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), etc.) or supporting an IT technical domain. Examples include: utilizing the procedures, regulations, and theories of IT planning or implementation in assigned specialty areas, e.g., service management and process management or an IT technical domain such as cloud, networking, database management, server or computer administration. OR Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. GS-07: 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement GS-09: master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements and education requirements described above, your IT experience will be evaluated and expected to include experience in the following competencies: 1. Attention to Detail- Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service- Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication- Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving- Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Education

Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
