This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The Office of the Chief Records Officer (AC), within Agency Services (A), is charged with leading records management throughout the Federal government. AC is staffed with records management (RM) professionals in the field and in College Park, MD, who are responsible for: assessing the effectiveness of Federal records management programs,reviewing records schedules and appraising records in Federal agencies.

Duties

As an Archives Specialist, you will: Serve as a senior specialist and technical expert on the General Records Schedules and records scheduling and appraisal. Develop and process General Records Schedules for approval by the Archivist of the United States. Develop and revise guidance on General Records Schedules. Develop and implement work plans in compliance with AC policies and procedures. Develop policies, procedures, and standards concerning the internal operation of the section or team, helping formulate and improve team operations. Leads cross-office teams.

Requirements

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position must include: Providing guidance on policies, procedures, regulations and/or statutes. AND Drafting or revising federal agency records schedules. AND Reviewing federal records to assess their permanent or temporary value. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
